The Davidson Wildcats wrestling team went 0-2 in a tri-meet hosted at Belk Arena on Sunday vs. Ohio Northern and NC State.  The NC State Wolfpack went 2-0 on the day by beating Ohio Northern 32-11 in the first match.

Davidson was forced to forfeit the 125-pound class in both matches, while also forfeiting the 165 and 197 classes vs. the Wolfpack.  Nathaniel Powers ’16, CT Talevi ’14, Ian Solcz ’15 and Scott Patrick ’14 each had to wrestle up a weight class, furthering the ’Cats chances of victory.

Anthony Elias ’15, Matt Zarth ’13, Kevin Birmingham ’15, Solcz and Patrick each earned wins against Ohio Northern.  Despite the forfeit in the 125-pound weight class, the ‘Cats held an 18-17 lead heading into the heavyweight match.  However, Ed Isola ’15 fell 7-2 and the Wildcats were defeated 20-18.

Anthony Elias was the highlight of the match vs. NCSU as he defeated #24 ranked Sam Speno in the 133-pound class by an 11-8 decision.  Solcz also earned his second victory of the day, beating Patrick Davis 4-0.

The 37-9 loss against NC State dropped the Wildcats to 6-13 overall on the season.  Davidson concludes the regular season on Sunday when they host Appalachian State at 1 p.m.
