What Wildcats Wear is The Davidsonian’s style section. This week, we featured Chloe Pitkoff ’21. Below is Chloe’s commentary about her style, self expression, and fashion inspiration.
I’m a New Yorker- Brooklynite, born and raised. Riding on the subway, you see all kinds of characters. New York is made up of so many artists and independent thinkers, and I draw my style from that creative energy. I went to an art school where dressing up was silently expected and became almost a competition. It was fun going to class every day just to see what people were wearing.
All of my clothes are thrifted or found. At home, I go thrifting with my mom almost every day. Our favorites are Housing Works and Beacon’s Closet. I think of thrift stores as museums that you can take home with you. I look for and piece together patterns, colors and textures to see how they interact. I’ve curated my own kind of museum, and I have quite a collection.
